This Swallow Reading really felt powerful to me. I needed to hear my old work. I could never call myself a bluewater sailor, but I’ve sailed Lake Erie in August, one of the most treacherous of the Great Lakes. That lake kills people; there are shoals just 1 inch deep. Many shipwrecks to demand my respect. I’ve been sailing to Canada since I was 8, fishnets while I draw 5 feet, with only a map and compass. I know the knots that could save me and how to untie them to save me, too. This reading reminded me of love. Love, to me, is that moment the wind picks you up and takes you there. It’s a catch of breath; it’s a release into its power. It’s a sail so powerful that you must give way. That is love. This break has been so important to my soul.
